We provide professional portrait photography services in the far west suburbs of Chicago, based in Elgin, IL. Our business is fully insured, uses professional equipment and can offer multiple studio and outdoor locations.
We specialize in dance photography. The dancer’s grace, beauty and elegance creates the inspiration for photographs with mood and expression. Dance photography is a collaborative effort with the dancers to create a photograph that illustrates a single moment from an art of movement. With my wife, a dance instructor, we explore the potential of a body’s movement within a space, pushing the dancer’s boundaries and architecting their sculptural physicality into defining still photographs.
Lance and Megan Long work together to provide all levels of dancers with the perfect fine-art dance photography, audition posing and headshots as well as on-location photos. Lance is a Professional Photographers of America (PPA) Member with over a decade of photography experience, awards and publications. Megan has a lifetime of dance and dance education experience to provide a beautiful perfect pose and select a dancer’s best images.
We photograph dance performances, studio portraits, class candids, or even help with marketing and studio art. When photographing in a dance studio, we can provide a marley floor and a choice of backgrounds.
In addition to photography, we continue the client experience through to the final print, providing personally produced fine art pigment prints on archival papers. We spend countless hours perfecting our in-house printing process and hope you will appreciate our printed products as much as we love making them.
We use a Nikon D850, 45 MegaPixel HDSLR camera with no Optical Low Pass Filter. This ensures a high level of detail and sharpness, with wide dynamic range and rich tonality, paired with fast aperture prime lenses that are optimized for capturing detail and crisp, natural image reproduction. We provide the perfect light using portable cordless studio strobes with the ability to freeze motion in absolute sharpness, taking control of natural light, overpowering the sun or maintaining the perfect deep blue sky. Whether inside the studio or outside on location, composition, lighting, exposure merge into a work of art.
